Mentorship is the building of relationships by communicating, with a focus on sharing knowledge, experience, and support. We help families move forward together, one step at a time. Gateway provides a variety of mentorship programs, such as one-to-one, group, online community, and communication mentorship.
Pooling the resources, knowledge, and experience of hundreds of families is the best place to find all your answers.

Mentorship options

We mentor families by email and through phone conversations for planning, sharing resources, and facilitating family-to-family connections on an ongoing basis.
Families receive regular updates on changes to funding, information in the news, events, and new resources through regular newsletters.
We host an online space for families which provides resources, mentorship contacts, events, news, and the opportunity to connect and share with other families.
Families Forward is a monthly meeting where families connect with other families, learn from one another, and explore issues that are important to them. Each month tackles a new topic, with expert speakers on hand to share information with families. Meetings are held the third Thursday of every month, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Gateway’s Learning Centre (106, 18304 105 Ave., Edmonton). Please feel free to drop in!
More families are exploring the idea of hiring a broker through Family Managed Services (FMS) funding. A broker’s role is diverse and dependent on the needs of the family. These meetings are an opportunity for brokers to learn from each other and share ideas and challenges. Meetings take place on the first Wednesday of every second month.
