About this Event
Happy new year and welcome to the first Families Forward of 2020. Caregivers whose children with a disability are under 18 years, have access to a federal Disability Tax Credit (DTC) and Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP).
The options seem straight forward however the process for applying, maintaining, appealing for these options continue to be confusing and difficult for caregivers. The speakers invited have informed expertise in these areas and will go over the processes as well as provide valuable tips on addressing the barriers, confusion, loopholes associated with the federal programs.
7 pm – 7.45 pm: The In’s and Out’s of Disability Tax Credit and RDSP
7.45 pm – 8.15 pm: Banks and RDSP Investments
8.15 pm – 9 pm: Q&A
Since 2019, Gateway Association invites a Witness to all Families Forward sessions; Witnesses are prominent Albertans in positions of power.
Witnesses hear about topics that are pertinent to caregivers and the related barriers, potential solutions and systemic issues. Non-identifying feedback will be taken away by Witnesses to their tables of influence thus contributing to a multi-level systemic problem-solving mechanism.
Our witness for January is Edmonton Public School Board Trustee for Ward I Sherry Adams.
