Hi, I’m Nishan Yihalem

Project Lead

I am passionate about sustainable social developments, determined to provide equity and diversity with goals of improving the lives of people in minority communities through the power of local initiatives and programs. Originally from Ethiopia, I migrated to Canada in 2005 and have since called Mohkinstsis (Calgary) home. By virtue of my personal experiences as a member of the POC community and my education in International Relations and Development Studies, it has been my mission to help bridge the gap between residents and newcomers while continuously learning ways to provide proactive people with the tools and support required to elevate their quality of life.

I enjoy spending quality time with friends and family, staying active and have grown up playing soccer, which I continue to do in leagues across the city.
