Mentees

Are you a MENTEE?

A Mentee is a job seeker or person who is focusing on career exploration and deciding what their employment goals are. Mentees are interested in meeting people who work in the industries they are interested in to learn more about their career goals. If this sounds like you, you’re interested in becoming a Mentee!

Working with your employment service provider or the MentorAbility Alberta team, you will be matched with a Mentor for a short-term mentoring experience. Mentors might work for an employer that you are interested in or otherwise have knowledge about the career you want. During the experience, you will learn more about the mentor’s workplace and different careers in their industry.

You will be supported throughout the process by skilled employment professionals. MentorAbility is not a job or an interview, but it can be a steppingstone to getting one!

If this sounds like you, you’re a Mentee!

Let’s Get Started!

Mentors

Are you a MENTOR?

A Mentor is an employee, entrepreneur, or individual with a specific skill set who is interested in connecting with Mentees to share about their industry, careers within it, and their own career journeys. A mentor is passionate about helping others learn and progress in their own careers and loves talking about the work that they do.

If this sounds like you, you’re a Mentor!

The MentorAbility team will help to facilitate mutually beneficial mentorship opportunities for you with a Mentee interested in learning more about careers in your industry or organization. These short-term mentoring experiences last from 1 hour to 1 day, online or virtual; we’ll work with you to figure something out within your availability and capacity.

If this sounds like you, you’re a Mentor!

Community Partner

Are you a COMMUNITY PARTNER?

There are a few different categories of Community Partner at MentorAbility, but all of them start with an organization who wants to be part of positive change for job seekers who experience disability!

An Employer Partner is an organization that has one or more employees who are keen to be mentors. Participating as a mentor can give employees a renewed energy for their own job and valuable leadership experience. An Employer Partner may also be interested in strengthening workplace culture or expanding their workplace diversity to help achieve their inclusion goals. Employer Partners get access to MentorAbility events and workshops!

A Service Provider Partner is an organization that works to support folks with disabilities in their pursuit of meaningful employment and wants to add MentorAbility into their career exploration toolkit. Service Provider Partners work in partnership with the MentorAbility Hub Coordinator to find and facilitate mentorship opportunities for the clients they serve. Perks of being a Service Provider Partner include access to our network of employers and mentors and our MentorAbility Partner funding program!

A Strategic Partner is an organization that wants to champion the work that MentorAbility is doing and has a great network of folks who may want to be involved in one way or another. Strategic Partners may also be interested in engaging in research to build an evidence base around inclusive employment for persons who experience disability, effective mentorship models and more!

If this sounds like you, you’re a Community Partner!
