Sifan Found a Place in the Music
Sifan loves music. So when they came to Gateway feeling isolated and unsure of the next step, the team pointed toward something close to that love: the National Music Centre. Gateway connected Sifan with the volunteer coordinator there, and Sifan joined the Jam Club, finding a sense of belonging in the music community.
From there, the practical pieces followed. Sifan had been looking for ways to build confidence, make social connections, and work toward employment, and English was part of that. With Gateway’s guidance, Sifan completed a Canadian Language Benchmarks assessment to gauge their English proficiency, then applied, with Gateway’s support, for the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada program at Bow Valley College, opening the door to further growth.
Sifan put it this way:
“Thank you so much for all your help and support those months. Because of that, I have the chance to go for English class, jam club, and volunteer work as well. I will keep going and tell you any update information in the future.”
